Quezon City, Philippines –  A-PAD Philippines staff and key personnel of Citizens’ Disaster Response Center Foundation, Inc, (CDRC) completed the three-day Staff Capacity Development Program of A-PAD Philippines on July 8, 2016 at CDRC Conference Hall. CDRC invited DRRM experts to discuss the issues concerning the state of the country’s disaster resiliency.

CDRC Deputy Executive Director Mr. Carlos Padolina tackled the RA 10121: The National Policy on the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in the Philippines and the NDRRM Plan 2011-2028. The provisions for implementing DRRM in the Philippines were thoroughly discussed. NDRRM Plan 2011-2028 emphasized the agenda of strengthening partnerships across all sectors, especially with the private sector.

Mr. Padolina also presented the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and Hyogo Framework. The principles in these frameworks were identified as the bases of the NDRRM Plan 2011-2028.

Ms. Frances Quimpo of the Center for Environmental Concerns – Philippines discussed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, also known as the COP21.

CDRC Executive Director Ms. Suyin Jamoralin shared what happened during the recent World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul. She also showed some of the presentations from the summit.
